What a ride the first 2 years have been in putting on this race.  We were so stoked to have all of the participants in this new event.  500 the inaugural year and 850 the second year.  We are the first to acknowledge that some growing pains have been more noticeable than we wanted them to be, but we promise we are learning from these pains and that the race will be better each year we put it on.  We have had phenomenal support from great participants, sponsors, and the City and County of Broomfield including both Anthem communities.  Its an honor to be able to provide this race for the residents and Thanksgiving visitors of Broomfield.  We had a lot of fun this year adding unique prize categories, a family division and a separate dedicated kids race.   The weather has been superb the first 2 years and the times have been fast.  So fast that for this next year we will have the course certified to prove to all the participants that each year the course has been 3.1 miles on the nose.  (Of course it helps to have some elite runners come out and compete and really set some fast marks for the course records).  :) 10k this year as well?  Who knows, but it is definitely in the future plans.  The course has already been identified and it rocks!

Here are some of the highlights, both new and old, for this year’s event.

We still have $2000 in prize money for the top three winners in Men & Women’s Open Division and Master’s Division

                $300 1st Place

                $150 2nd Place

                $50   3rd Place

Top three winners in each age group will receive medals.

Top three finishers for the walk will receive medals.

Participants will receive a t-shirt, goody bag, post-race snacks, and a chip time.

All participants and volunteers will be eligible for the raffle prizes donated by our awesome sponsors.

We have added a Family Division sponsored by the Pepsi Center and their three professional sports teams - the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Mammoth.  Four members of one family will compete (all team members run the 5k and times are averaged) to vie for some awesome prizes.  Please be sure that all members of the team are related i.e. grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, and in-laws.  We want this to be a fun event for everyone...no ringers allowed!!  Also, the family division is separate from the open divisions.  Individual times will be available for members in the family division, but they will not be eligible for open, master’s or age group awards.   They will, however, be eligible for our special awards.

We have also added new youth divisions for the 5k run.  The new age divisions are as follows for male and female:

   6-10    11-14    15-19    20-29    30-39    40-49    50-59    60-69    70+

The Bumpkin Pumpkin Dash will be a 1/2 mile kid’s race for ages 2-8.  Each participant will receive a t-shirt, a ribbon and a time courtesy of Runnercard.  The cost is $10 per child.

Make sure to stay for our awards ceremonies starting right after the kid’s race.  There will be awards for the top runners, raffle prizes, and even some special awards given out to some lucky runners!  It will be a great time to be had by all.

Parking is available at the Parkside Community Center as well as at the Anthem Highlands Sales office across the street.  Depending on the number of participants, parking may be limited so please carpool or arrange a drop off and pick up to help alleviate space constraints.   Also, between 9:00 and 10:00 am, the lower portion of Parkside Center Drive will be closed.  The only access in and out of the community center is through the east entrance of the parking lot, east on Parkside Center Drive, left on Alexander Way, and right on Indian Peaks.  This will take you out to Preble Parkway, and eventually out to Sheridan Pkwy.  So if you are being picked up or need to leave before 10:00, this is the only exit.  We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding.  We want to make the course as safe and friendly as possible to our runners!  Click here for a map to exit the community center.

The event will take place regardless of weather, therefore, no refunds will be provided.
